I noticed that as the frame shops moved into higher production runs (or just plain quite the business) they sold off good matt cutters.

Squeezed into my studio space is a Speedmat® Matt Cutter. The fact that it was production number 2 was a bit worrisome, but it works fine.

It takes a firm hand, steady pressure and and the right arm of a wrestler but it will cut a full circle, ellipse or prefect SQUARE bevel. It can hold a 30" x 40" board as well as foam board.

It's real value comes from the cutter's ability to run off numbers of matts the same size.
